Rising Tides Vintage Notes
Our flagship wine embodies all that we strive for in blending. It shows not only balance in its flavor and body, but is in itself a balance between vineyards, varietals and aging vessels every year.
2019
67% Grenache, 26% Syrah, 7% Graciano
Each year Rising Tides represents the vintage as a whole and in 2019 we have a wine that is deep and complex while light on its feet. This is a perfect showcase of the balance between dense dry farmed flavors and structure against the brilliant limestone rooted acidity that is emblematic of the wines from this year. Red strawberry Grenache notes are grounded by darker Syrah flavors of elderberry and black olives. Herbal aromatics collide with hints of oak to conjure the image of sage butter simmering in a pan. Undertones of wet granite and aged balsamic pick up on the mid-palate and carry long into the finish. Drink now through 2029.

2018
69% Grenache, 28% Syrah, 3% Graciano
This wine embodies the beauty that comes from cheerful and bright Grenache being butrussed and grounded by brooding, rich and powerful Syrah. The aromatics offer a bramble of wild berries in an abandoned garden, wisteria and lilac growing all around them. Soft cooking spices waft through the mixture, with hints of cardamom and mulled cinnamon. The first sip cannot help but make you smile as bright acid and grippy tannins bring flavors of black raspberry and cedar to life. The wine is full of excitement, however mellow and smooth as it glides into a long and lingering finish. Drink now through 2026.

2017

A combination of grenache blocks from Stonethrower, LC Estate, and Oakdale Ranch. This wine is filled with fresh berries, cinnamon stick, and a salty sweet ocean breeze. Lively on the palate with fresh acidity and hints of cherry ribbon candy. The wine is highly complex and just a baby. Aged in 2500L French oak founder, 500L Puncheons, and a 2000L concrete cylinder. The elegant chalky tannins suggest this wine will age for 7-12 more years gracefully and maybe more.

2015
54% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, 14% Syrah, 2% Tannat
Bright ripe strawberries and candied cherries lead this vibrant blend of Willow Creek District fruit. In 2015, we faced a deep reduction in yields of Syrah, but Grenache took the opportunity to jump to the head of the class, leading this blend. Healthy acidity comes across with notes of rhubarb, violets and blood orange. Soft aromas of sandalwood intermingle with the delicacy of falling rose petals. Chalky tannins pay homage to the calcareous mudstone and shale the vines have been raised in. Aged in a 3000L French oak foudre and a 2000L concrete tank. Drink now through 2024.
