Outsider
74% Zinfandel, 17% Syrah, 9% Graciano
Black raspberry, black cherry, cocoa nibs and patchouli. This wine is at once fruity and savory as it takes a rambling path across your palate into a long, lingering finish. Classic Zinfandel flavors meet the structure of Syrah, creating a smooth inviting mouthfeel. The iron rich minerality of Graciano pulls it back from saccharine, sowing notes of smoked bacon. It is fantastic now, however, aging this wine will reward you, as we have recently seen with a favorite of ours, the 2008 Outsider - 14 years and breathtaking!
Pairings: smoked and brined bone-in pork chops, truffle potatoes, seared fois gras,
arugula and beet salad with chèvre…
